I am as fucked up as i have been in a while. Though its on more then just boooze, u see getting nailed on booose is easy. that is just a matter of how muhs i drink, vs how much those around me wanted to drink, even though i started at 6 pm i saw sitll pretty drunk and managed to take a game at pool, but that doesnt matter, the fact of the matter is that i was the the last man standing and despited smoking a sigar myself i stilll wasnt that bad
despite the internal bleeding, bed time later

On Wednesday I foundmyself facing one of the dumbest things that I have ever heard, but as I think about it more, I realized many people can not answer this question correctly, and they often answer with the stupid response.


When was the Constitution signed? The absolutely wrong answer is 1776, if you thought that was the right answer, go back to your high
school and demand a better education. The Constitution was drafted in 1787, ratified in 1788, Washington was elected in 1789.


But this is only one small issue and is part of a much larger problem. Today we learn in sound bites, we watch tv and get narrow views of the world that surrounds us. Right now I am watching a show on the discovery channel, "The Greatest American," hosted my matt lauer, and featuring al rooker and whoopi goldberg. It has chosen 25 Americans and asks Americans to decide who is the greatest American. Each candidate is presented in a small 10 min vignette. How can we compare the achievements of Thomas Jefferson to those of Martin Luther King, and how can Elvis possibly be considered next to FDR. This is again just another symptom of a greater issue. We take things in sound bytes, we break down monumental achievements to ten word statements, when it is more important to consider what comes next. We hold these truths to be self evident, is just one example, we break down the document that gave birth to a new nation to one phrase, not even a full sentence. We forget that before we
hold these truths to be self evident there has to be When in the course of human events. We forget that after this simple statement came years of hard fought war, the revolution doesn’t end 1776. Yet we forget that we are a nation forged in the fire of war. Much more importantly we have forgotten that our nation was founded by a group of men whose ability to think and reason was surpassed by none.


With in those first ten words are the beginnings of important thought. Ten words begin a story; they are the start of an idea. It is the next ten words
that define a concept, it is then words after that make it something real, and it is another ten words that make us understand. One of the problems that we face is that we accept things as truth that are not necessarily true, we accept rumor and myth as truth, we make simple mistakes like confusing how are nation was born. But there are other mistakes as well mistakes that cut short the important moments that define our history, "we have nothing to fear but fear itself" is just the beginning of a speech that helped a country regain its confidence. There are countless examples, in every field its not just history, that is just what I know the most about. In every possible thing effects our lives we can see simple mistakes that confuse the truth.

So today was softball game two of the year.

Let me back track to game one first, I batted 0 for 3, played ok behind the plate, better then last year but still not good.

Ok back to tonight.

My first at bat sucked my balls pop out to 2B. Second at bat was better I drove one into the center field, but it carried to much and went right to center field. Ok third at bat, 9th inning 4-2 bad guys, I am up thrid, and I was focused, to break my season Ofer. I turn to the guy who bats behind me, and I said "Bob I am getting you up this inning." The Tommy led off, hard single right through the infield. Next up is Al, and this why Al needs to be kicked in the Sac Repeatedly, Al comes up and swings right at the first pitch, bang double play, nothing tommy could do about, and Al is a slow fuck so he is dead in the water. Fucking first pitch, NO FUCKING PATIENCE.

Right so my at bat. First pitch ball, high and away. Second pitch, strike down and away. Third Pitch, ball bounces of the plate, the catcher gave me some help here, he came up to field it off a bounce, and thus blocked the Umps view. Had the Ump seen it, I think 50/50 its strike two. Thrid Pitch, strike, up and in, I knew it was a strike, but I took it because I dont like inside pitchs. Before the inning started rich gave me a tip, on two strikes the pitcher commonly throws the fastball, so its 2-2, and I am thinking fastball, bamm there it is, wamm hard right up the middle. Now I am going to again stress Fuck AL, because had he not hittin into a double play we could norrowed the Gap with some decent bats coming up. My hit probally would have made it 4-3, bob, the guy batting behind me, would have made an out, so thats one or two outs and probally a runner on second or thrid and our chance to win the game in the bottom of the 9th. FUCK AL.

Aj had you been there you would have probally said yeah thats AL. Fucking guy has does this before, he makes me look way clutch, because he is always making outs at the wrong fucking time. I bat behind this fuck so it makes my job may tougher, leaving me with tommy in positon and 2 outs, so when the law of averages hits me and I make an out I feel like shit for not excuting. When in reality its this poser who cant get on base for his life that drags me down. I guess there is just something thats me be more productive with one or no outs.

We pull up to my house, its my 21st birthday, I had just puked like 90 times on a new york sidewalk, but its all good. So we pack into elliots car, thats the last i remeber until the morning. So I ask elliot what happened that night on the road home, this is what he tells me, "We pulled up to your house and you got out of the front seat of my car, and then you opened the back door and said 'Ok I am going to sleep now.' No dude your home he said. I then Stumbled into my house.

Flash foward to last thrusday. Its St. Patties day so we all go out to become honorary Irish as he put it. When it comes to leave elliot tells me hes buzzed which means that i would piss drunk if I were in his shoes, so we hit the road, we werent really sure where we were going. So we head back in the direction from which we had arrived. We then find a cop car with someone pulled over, as we got closer we realized it was AJ, for the rest of the ride home all he cared about was AJ, and his possible DWI. So we are in suffern, niether of us have any clue what we are doing. We drive past our exit so go straight, hoping to turn around once we pass the construction zone, but the construstion zone doesnt end, next thing we know we see a sign for 87 but it appears to go on the wrong side of the road, and the last thing we want is to cream some one while we go in the wrong direction. So we pull down the other side, BIG FUCKING MISTAKE, next thing we know we are in a full blown construction site, FUCK, We come to the literal end of the road, do a K turn on some dirt. Ok cool now all we gotta do is not drive passed the exit again. Shit we made it out of Suffern.

The rest of the drive home was fairly uneventual, on my street elliot tells me hes gotta piss, I just said cool come inside and use the bathroom, elliot says nah I dont wake up your family, "i'll just piss on the street." I offered again, he said nah I am good i'll just piss on the street. So we pull up to my house I get out, I turned around to say good bye to elliot and his already taking a leak on my street. With his freehand he waved good bye, I waved back went into the house, and that was the last time I saw elliot.

Overall I feel terrible, AJ had a running gag, that the over under for elliot was 49, but none of us ever imagined elliot leaving us. So while we were out drinking the other night I made the comment that, "he would not make 30, and that was like 5 days away." I know that is there is no way that I could have known. But I still said it, and he didnt make it 5 days. This is the most awful feeling that I have made in my entire life.

Part of my couldn't belive that it was him the casket today. Though all of me know that elliot and his legends will live on through all of us. He had a giant heart that effected us all. If I could only be more like him, always kind, always joking.

I can't write any more because i am now crying full force.

Washington cause he was first, Lincoln cause he won the civil war, and FDR cause he won WW II and beat back the great depression.

Contray to this the pole results had Ronald Reagan on top with 20%, and put Clinton(10%) and Bush(8%) the younger ahead of washington(6%).

What you happen to think about either clinton or bush is not the matter at hand. Simply because they are fresh in our memory does not mean that deserve to be on the same platform as the man that shaped the american presidency(washington). Let alone be voted infront of them. Most historians put clinton around 22, and I can assume that bush will go right around the same area, despite my belive that he should be dead last.

Your choices are FDR, Lincoln, and Washington, pick one of those three no else is applicable.
